Question- What type of Halloween Candy is Best?

Around 300 children trick or treat my place every Halloween and this year I’ve decided to buy just one type of sweets.

Last year I had a variety and let the children choose, but some of them got greedy and wanted one of each so I am limiting the selection to just one sort of lolly. What would be your favorite treat if you could only choose one?

Suggestions: Something chocolate is always my favourite. A fun size Mars or Snickers bar or M&Ms would be great. You can get a 12-16 pack on special for under $3.00. A confectionary wholesaler could do you a much better deal though.

Question – How do I make halloween makeup look real?

I want to dress up as a dead bride this halloween, and I want to make my makeup look authentic . I know how to make fake wounds but not much else. I have fake blood, and I have some basic halloween makeup but I dont know how to use it properly.

Suggestion: Keep it simple. Use white colour on your face and neck to make you look really pale. To get the white foundation to blend really well, I always make sure to apply plenty of face cream or sorbolene. Put the white paint all over your face, including eyebrows.

Now dab small dots of black paint all around the eyes and blend it with the white to make your eye sockets look hollow.

Lips should be defined deep cherry red for a sexy bride look, or smudged black /grey for an realistic dead look.

Question – What family friendly Halloween costume could I wear to my waitressing job?

I work as a waitress at a family friendly restaurant. For Halloween we’re allowed to dress up in costumes as long as they fit with the family friendly restaurant theme. All I have is a French maid costume, but that isn’t suitable. What should I wear? And what sort of shoes will I wear? I usually wear sensible non-slip shoes to work for safety reasons.

Suggestions:

Dead waitress. Just put your French maid apron over you usual uniform. You can still wear the little white cap, but make your makeup pale and ‘dead’ looking. Make your eyes all grey and smokey and even add a scar if you’re clever with makeup.

You could easily be a black cat by wearing black clothes, shoes and putting whiskers on your face and getting some cat ears to wear. You can make some ears by cutting some stiff black fabric in triangles and glueing them to an alice band. This would be comfortable and fun and wouldn’t scare any kids. Oh and did I mention cheap? That’s always good!

Question – What Halloween treats can i make?

I will be spending Halloween with my big sister. I’m 17 and have a tight budget, so what Halloween themed desserts, snacks, and drinks could we make that would be inexpensive? I have braces and I can’t eat anything sticky like caramel and very hard things.

Suggestions:

Strained Eyeballs

6 hard boiled eggs
6 oz cream cheese, beaten
7 oz stuffed Green olives
Red food coloring

Shell eggs and cut in half lengthwise. Discard the yolks. Stuff the centres with cream cheese. Press an olive into each cream cheese eyeball, stuffing facing up. This will make it look like a creepy green eye with red pupil! For a finishing touch, dip the end of a toothpick in red food coloring and draw broken blood vessels in the cream cheese. Yummy!

Simple Pimples

1 punnet of cherry tomatoes
Flavoured Cream Cheese Spread

Core tomatoes with a carrot peeler or knife. Drain excess tomato juice. Using a butter knife, fill holes in tomatoes with cream cheese. Give each pimple a gentle squeeze and arrange on a plate. Yuk!

Magic Brew
Ingredients:

1 8-ounce vanilla yogurt
1 cup orange juice
4 cups orange soda

Instructions:
Put the vanilla yogurt, orange juice, and 2 cups of the orange soda in the blender container. Cover blender with lid. Blend on high until well combined.

Carefully pour the liquid into ice cube trays. Cover the trays with plastic wrap and place in the freezer. Freeze for 6 hours or overnight.

Just before serving, remove the frozen cubes from 1 of the ice cube trays. Put them in the blender with 1 cup of the orange soda. Cover and blend on high speed until slushy. Pour into 6 glasses. Repeat with remaining frozen cubes and orange soda. Serves twelve.

Ghoul’s Punch
Ingredients:

6 cups chilled unsweetened pineapple juice
3 cups cold water
1 6-ounce can frozen lemonade concentrate
4 orange slices

Frozen Hands (recipe follows)

Instructions:
Punch: In a punch bowl stir together pineapple juice, water, and lemonade concentrate. Float orange slices and Frozen Hands in punch. Serves eight

Frozen Hands: Carefully pour a litre of cranberry juice into 2 or 3 washed and clean plastic gloves. Do not overfill. Fill the gloves so that the fingers can move easily. Tightly seal the ends of the gloves with rubber bands. Place on a baking tray lined with paper towel and freeze until firm. Using clean scissors, cut the gloves off the frozen hands. If any fingers break off, add them separately to punch.
