Question – What are some cheap Halloween decorating ideas?

26th August

I need some inexpensive scary ideas and special effects ideas and tips. I’m only thirteen and have a limited budget.

Suggestions: Make a graveyard scene – Make some wooden stake crosses, paint them white and write R.I.P. on them. Mound some dirt up to resemble fresh graves and post the stakes into the headstone area.  If you still have some timber left, make ghosts with stakes and pumpkins. Put small sheets over the stakes them and place a pumpkin on top for the head.

Hang a sheet in a tree. Outstretch the arms a bit by tying fishing line to the ‘hands’ and tying them to separate branches. The breeze will make the ghost move. You can do this with black sheets or fabric for a creepy shadow effect too.

Have lots of eerie lighting, black lights, green…spooky and dark. Just buy some coloured bulbs and put them in some lamps hidden under low tree branches or near scary props to give a dim glow. Stay safe. Make sure the lights don’t get wet from rain or dew!

It’s easy to dress up a tall pvc pipe cross to look like a witch or monster.Tie the pipe in a cross shape, drape a sheet or fabric over it, then stick a full-face rubber mask on the top.

You can make a coffin using a huge box. Paint it and stick a dummie hand coming out of it.

Make tombstones out of foam, painted and decorated with funny sayings. Have these positioned up the pathway so people can have a laugh on the way to the door.
