Question – What family friendly Halloween costume could I wear to my waitressing job?

22nd August 2009

I work as a waitress at a family friendly restaurant. For Halloween we’re allowed to dress up in costumes as long as they fit with the family friendly restaurant theme. All I have is a French maid costume, but that isn’t suitable. What should I wear? And what sort of shoes will I wear? I usually wear sensible non-slip shoes to work for safety reasons.

Suggestions:

Dead waitress. Just put your French maid apron over you usual uniform. You can still wear the little white cap, but make your makeup pale and ‘dead’ looking. Make your eyes all grey and smokey and even add a scar if you’re clever with makeup.

You could easily be a black cat by wearing black clothes, shoes and putting whiskers on your face and getting some cat ears to wear. You can make some ears by cutting some stiff black fabric in triangles and glueing them to an alice band. This would be comfortable and fun and wouldn’t scare any kids. Oh and did I mention cheap? That’s always good!

You could be a Barbie doll and just wear a hot pink t-shirt with jeans. Then you wouldn’t look like a prositute or anything because your clothes would be modest ;D

since you have to dress up by TOMORROW, here’s a really QUICK costume!

be a DOLL… just use REALLY pale foundation and put bright red circles on your cheeks and bright red lip stick and really thick black mascara (or black fake eyelashes) and wear any dress, poofy or flowy, with any slip-resistant shoes. good luck!!!

You could dress in your normal work clothes but wear one of those cool Mardi Gras feather masks.

Or how about a female scarecrow outfit?

I would suggest keeping it casual and comfortable, since you’re going to be at work.

It’s hard to suggest something without knowing what you like first. Use your imagination! The possibilities are endless.

Anything that not too exposed because you’re a waitress, not a stripper. Anything that you feel good in it or do not feel embarrass wearing is the best choice. Its about you, not about the others.

The classic witch costume is probably the easiest for you, given that you’ll have to work in it!!

Throw on some black loose clothing, get yourself a cheap-o witch hat at a discount store (maybe attach a loop to it, so it won’t fly off your head while you are working), maybe have a little fun with your makeup (you could go all green like Margaret Hamilton in the Wizard of Oz if you wanted, or you could just do some exaggerated eye makeup), and you’re good to go….in the holiday spirit, AND you can wear your slip-resistant shoes.

Some people go for the long haired witch wig, but the hat and the makeup should be enough to get the idea across. After all, you’re not going for BEST Costume, you are simply going for a costume to fit the bill.

    Good luck!

You can wear a crazy or relly cool hat with a matching shirt with it, if its something last minute. Think of what kids love…. disney!!! or spongebob. You can also do like a witch not scary one or something. For shoes, I would recommend black , white or something basic or matching with the costume. I would recommend sneakers atleast bc you will be walking from table to table and ur feet would hurt if you wear heels. Wear comfortable shoes if you like too. Maybe uggs or something comfortable. you could wear a sheet like a ghost, being a cartoony ghost would be perfect, as long as it won’t affect the work (tripping over the sheet, difficulty carrying things ect)
